Our Philosophy

Sunshine Coast Early Learning Maroochydore aims to provide a safe, happy, nurturing and welcoming environment in which each child can reach their full potential. Our practice is influenced by Vygotsky's socio-cultural theory, which emphasises social interactions as a fundamental role in the process of cognitive development as well as the role of the teachers in 'scaffolding learning'. We also recognise Bowlby's theory on the influence of attachment on subsequent development therefore we strive to build secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships with children to enable them to feel safe, valued, confident and independent.

Children's early years of life are the most important for learning as 85% of brain development happens in the early years. Therefore it is our responsibility to ensure we provide high quality opportunities and experiences which enable them to interact, explore, discover and make sense of the world.

We aim to promote each child's civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights on the acknowledgement of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child by ensuring the individual needs and interests of the children are paramount and taken into account at all times.

Our educators are the best resources for children as they support children to develop their social, emotional, intellectual and physical skills by delivering a play based curriculum (Early Years Learning Framework - EYLF) through observations on the children's individual interests and skills. The staff will endeavour to foster children's self-esteem, confidence and independence by incorporating a flexible routine and an educational program that is appropriate to each child's own ability. We will promote an environment free of bias and prejudice and welcome everyone to the centre regardless of race, gender, culture, religion, sexuality, background, economic situation and abilities.

All of us at Sunshine Coast Early Learning Maroochy are passionate about children and committed to ensuring they get the best start in life by allowing them the opportunities of being, belonging and becoming in an environment that celebrates their achievements and positively supports them to become life-long learners. Nothing can give us more satisfaction than knowing our children are happy, secure and confident learners and the fact that we are able to contribute to their journey of learning and discovery is a privilege never to be taken for granted.
